I can confirm that,

Linux - Left 4 Dead - FAILED
Linux - Left 4 Dead 2 - FAILED
Windows - Left 4 Dead - SUCCESS
Windows - Left 4 Dead 2 - SUCCESS


Sounds to me they changed linux values for the left 4 dead series.

You need to update both Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 for Linux only, as they both still give off the error. You said it worked, stating "not true" when I posted on Left 4 Downtown, and I see three users still saying it don't work. Including me, I do not use linux, but I prefer to have it for better hosting.

Anyway, for me and some other guys l4d1 is working just fine. I'm not saying that you are lying about the issue, but i dont really have time to investigate every report. If you want your issue to be investigated you need to give more information. Like the exact version that is used and what is the exact problem, how to reproduce and any other useful information. Successful report will include the link to the version used, what OS is used, version of the game and clarify that only metamod is running only l4dtoolz as plugin and not other.
As for l4d2 - It is not updated in anyway for few year - I never sad that right now it is working.

L4D2 Linux version has always required an additonal, fixed gamedata file to be downloaded.
I'm not sure if the new 1.0.0.9f version contains them.

Try this combination before saying that l4d2 linux is broken.

Overwrite the new l4dtoolz.txt gamedata file with the old one in addons/l4dtoolz/gamedata/l4dtoolz.txt

1.0.0.9f doesn't come with a gamedata file. I placed the one you linked in addons/l4dtoolz/gamedata and rebooted, but it's still giving me sv_maxplayers init error. Can anyone else confirm this?

I know that 1.0.09f dosen't come with a gamedata.

I spoke about using l4dtoolz(L4D2)-1.0.0.10RC3. Did you really try that version together with the new gamedata?
If you don't know were to get 10RC3, it was in my prior post. Then if that dosn't work, l4dtoolz for l4d2 linux is indeed broken but I doubt it considering I do see linux servers using it just fine.

Please also notice that l4dtoolz.so is used for linux servers and the .dll file for windows servers. Very important that you get that right.

Oh, I somehow missed the first link but grabbed the second; I wasn't aware there was a newer version of l4dtoolz(L4D2). I blame tiredness.

Anyway yeah, 1.0.0.10RC3 with that gamedata file seems to work. Thanks for the help!

Seems your feeling guilty for your mistake there and your confusion of Linu and Windows differences.. I don't mean to be rude, you don't seem to a good reader.

He is talking about Linux. Not Windows. As all plugin creators always test it after doing fixes. have you tested it in Linux? did you get the 'Init error"
please confirm that you have tested it in Linux and didnt get the init error.
