update your client - there were two updates sent out. You can validate game cache and that will sometimes push it to the client.

Yeah since Steampipe I seem to keep getting this problem. TF2 won't automatically update. Usually a Steam client restart fixes the problem.

3. Load TF2.

5. Profit!

Even after I did that several times, it refused to update until I restarted Steam. Had that issue on the first Steampipe update as well.

I had to restart my client several times before the update would pick up. man.. this steampipe is great stuff isnt it?

Your problems were most likely because at one point there was at least 3 different versions of the game going at once. Some slower servers owners were 2 updates behind, some 1, and others were quick. Dependsing on how many servers you tried it was probably a huge mess. Steam didn't give me any issues at all.

The error is not "older version of the game" though, so you misunderstood the point of this thread.

I didnt misunderstand anything. You said the server was running a newer version even after you updated. Since there were TWO updates in a row you probably only got the first update.

It would be nice if people would stop blaming SteamPipe for everything that happens.

Server crashed? SteamPipe!
Client out-of-date? SteamPipe!
Dog pooped on the carpet? SteamPipe!

Your client was out-of-date, plain and simple. SteamPipe just changed how updates are downloaded. It didn't make Steam stop updating things entirely.
