Hello. Should I upgrade my server to the latest AMXX version? If yes, why? What new features does the latest AMXX version have? Also, if I upgrade my server to the latest AMXX version, is it likely that some (old) plugins will produce errors or simply won't work? My server has plugins that are old, but there are no newer versions of these plugins.

What are some reasons to upgrade my server to the latest AMXX version?

The AMXX version I currently use is 1.8.3

If there are some features that you want from the new AMXX 1.9 or AMXX 1.10 then yes go ahead and update, It's pretty stable and all plugins that work on the previous versions should be working there too

to see the new features/bugfixes of AMXX 1.10 just check the commits here

The thousand different variants of 1.8.3 are unstable, old development versions. I upgraded my Day of Defeat server from 1.8.2 to 1.9.0 due to an HLDS update breaking some of my plugins.

So, if you're on a current version of HLDS then you should be safe upgrading to 1.9.0, it should be relatively low risk but always make a backup of your addons folder before upgrading.

I would upgrade to 1.9.0, but keep your 1.8.3 as a backup. In my addons folder I have:

amxmodx (my 1.9.0 folder)
amxmodx182
amxmodx183

This allows me to easily switch between versions by renaming folders. Though to be honest, I never go back to 1.8.2 or 1.8.3. But if you have worries about things breaking, you can do this to sleep better at night until you feel comfortable with 1.9.0.

This is very good advice. I do the same thing and have one folder for 182 and one for 190.

If you're upgrading AMX-X, I would only backup your existing copy of AMX-X as I suggested above; rename amxmodx folder to amxmodx183, and install the new version as amxmodx. I don't see the need to backup your entire addons folder, assuming you have other addons such as podbot, etc., that would not be impacted by upgrading AMX-X.
