I have this really irritating bug where bans don't stay when the server restarts (well, more specifically, crashes). The server crashes a lot.

How can I fix this?

Get a third party plug-in to manage your bans in a sqlite/mysql database, such as SourceBans.

Yeah seen this quite a bit with plugins such as Mani Admin. If the ban is only a temp ban as in so many hours or days etc, it is held in memory and as soon as the server restarts, the ban gets cleared which can be irritating specially if you restart your server daily regardless of crashing.

create a cfg/banned_users.cfg and cfg/banned_ip.cfg. Then add

exec banned_ip.cfg
exec banned_user.cfg
writeip
writeid

to your server.cfg

82694, that doesn't help temporary bans that are stored only in memory. And aside from that, the .cfg files have a tendancy to delete themselves or corrupt once you start storing over a few hundred bans
