there are some tutorials to convert models (search tutorial), but to convert a map... weird stuff.
you can recreate a similar map but I don't think that's possible to convert it (this still my personnal opinion).

Yes you can almost do that.
Anyway, there are something you cant convert.
I dont know how to call them but they are basically a normal face like in cs1.6 valve hammer but they have triangles inside of it and that is what makes grounds and stuff so real in css.
Also texture blendings is not possible.

But the basic shape of the map and all those models what come with the map is possible to convert cs1.6
All you need now is valve hammer, source sdk tools:valve hammer and source map decompiler
( not sure if that exists. Ive never had reason to decompile css maps. )

To do all those things i said you must have at least basic knowledge of mappin in counter strike

Yes, there is a decompiler, but it's not official and it's also not perfect.

Incidentally, the version of Hammer you need is now shipped with the game. Strangely, you still need the Source SDK downloaded if you want the sample map files.

As I know (don't work with Source so many), Source BSP maps decompiled better than GoldSrc BSP (CS 1.6).
But this not convert, this hard map recovery work.

A question,is it possible creating Hammer for CS 1.6 with displacement option in it?
It will make maps looks more cool.

VHE not OpenSource.
Better to create Application for creating displacement and export it to suitable VHE format (RMF).
Like Terrain Generator.
Also I think Jackhammer developer can add displacement generation feature for some donate.

I think it is bad idea. Goldsrc is not meant to be carrying that much triangles.
I believe you will also run out things like light data or texture memory etc... before you can even compile map.

Hello,
I got the same problem, and I cant find a solution.

so I convert the (css-map) bsp to a vmf file (with Vmex).
But now the problem is, how to make that vmf to a rmf file,
so I can open it with my VHE.

Thanks

@Phant, terrain generator can create environments but placing them in the right way in a map is difficult.
@ .Dare Devil. , isn't there another way except using triangles?
