I have one vps that I'm running my game server on (Ubuntu 15.04). Used 17% disk space of my 20gb allocated ssd space, would I still have enough head room if I install all the requirements? And would their be any security risks running all those under root.

The database would need quite a lot of data to let you grow out of space.

If you don't want to give anyone your credit card including the pin code, then you should not run anything as root either.

The only time when root would eventually be necessary in regards to what you are trying to accomplish, that would be while installing any system-wide requirements, nothing else.

Damn, k. Maybe when my server if ever gets daily/regular players I'll get another vps.
