Of course. It's 1 native call vs 3 in atfp which is very important.
You should use player spawn forward + a timer cvar.

I can't seem to make this plugin work, it just shows a black box where everything should be, some icons are visible, sometimes it works as it should but then the freezetime ends and it goes black and to the center of the player instead of completely removing it. I just can't get it to work properly and i didn't change a thing, it just doesn't work...

Any idea what it might be?

You probably have a bad plugin that messes with entity rendering. Disable all plugins except default and this one and see if it still happens.
