I do agree with this a lot. and honestly.. I am the most passionate about CS:S. I always have been. I'm just afraid I wont be able to populate it.

A good thread actually. I have a GO server and struggling to think of new ideas to attract players. I've always liked the public rotation servers. Actually in fact last year my old clan server was in the top 3 in Europe from May till September then it just died overnight and hardly anyone connected. Since another UK community has got ever popular and they are the most popular in the UK by far.

I like my server to be with as few mods as possible, but still not quite vanilla. E.g. no advertisements. But Ive still got SMAC, Sourcebans, weapon restrict etc...

Foe example, I don't think a hostage map only server would attract a lot of players but I think its a good idea.

Yeah I agree man. Its hard to populate them now a days. Not as many players :/

TF2 is the way to go to start out a gaming community. CSSource is going to be much more difficult. I used MvM servers and Idle servers to get my community started up. It's slowly getting to be popular again. I gauge it by how many idiots begging for admin over steam I have to sift through when I get home from work.

I am using the same, Wave 666 and pony idle maps with open RTD, resizeme, setspawn, robot, aia, and stuff that is usually donor/vip.
