I created a CSGO server with the following specifications:
  • 12 slots;
  • 128 Tickrate;
Game mode I'm using is Competitive.

Problem is that when it reaches 8 players on the server I start to suffer from high VAR, SV and MS.

The dedicated settings are as follows:
  • Windows 10 Pro;
  • Intel® Xeon® Processor E5620;
  • 16GB Ram

I took a print of the resources used when there are players connected to the server.
Attachment 182250

As far as I could see the problem is the CPU usage which is at the extreme.

What specifications / configuration would I need to solve this problem on my server.

Use debian with xanmod and tuned-adm. It will give you better performance and low var.

Any alternative without changing the Operating System? Dedicated in the case there would be no way for me to change the OS, boy prefers to use Windows yet.

I already commented with him about it, better Linux for game servers, anyway, he didn't agree.

Are you saying that the person you spoke with doesn't agree that Linux doesn't perform better under this scenario?

Because right now he's not winning that argument based on you having to make this post asking for ways to make the machine perform better in terms of competitive play.

It seems like your windows is running within a virtualization which will decrease the performances of your already kinda weak Xeon E5620 even more.

Entendo, vou ver alguma alternativa, ou até mesmo o Linux mesmo.

Nop, he said he just prefers Windows, he didn't say why or if he wants to change. So before presenting the options for it, solutions, I wanted to see if I could do something in this current configuration that could solve the problem.

That is, if you are going to continue on Windows, upgrade the processor.

If you switch to Linux, you can solve the problem of extreme CPU usage.

Thanks to everyone who helped, I'll be talking to him now about the options.

In your case the lack of enough CPU power is the problem, not the operating system.
So just switching to linux will not fix your problem.

I agree with @TomL. The raw power of this CPU is not that good. Despite having 4 cores and HT it has a very low frequency, hence the high percentages. What you could do however, is to lower the tick-rate to 64 and adjust some other settings, or for even better performance, overclock your CPU (which is not the same as boosting it to 2.66 GHz).

I think the bigger problem, than the CPU itself, is that it's a virtual machine not a dedicated server.
