What are you trying to do that that's not working for you?

HE's trying to do .res files.

Now take a second to think about the logic. The .res file wil most likely be used on a Windows machine. (Now usually, don't quote me on this because I know Linux users use them too.) Now, the default programs are Notepad and Wordpad for windows. The tutorial didn't give you any applications in order to do a .res file. So if there isn't a specific program, then you would have to use notepad/wordpad, am I right?

how do you know it doesn't work? Are you sure it's set up correctly? Where did you find out that you need ASC II coding for .res files?

What you have to do is not save it as a text file put all files and *.res.

Creating your RES file

Since RES files are just text files, you can use any generic text application to create and edit it. I use notepad, but anything will do, so long as it writes a generic ASCII text file with no special formatting.

There are utility programs out there that will edit RES files specifically, but I haven't worked with any of them so I can't describe what they can be used for.
its from the wally website

Just a typo. HE says he uses NOTEPAD. And since notepad only has ASC I, then just use that. Have you even tried it with ASC I to see if it works or did you just notice that and not take the time to check?

The File type has to be All Files. Then save it as mapname.res
