Hi, I just got my first VPS, and the first thing I did was throw up some old goldsrc game servers.

I don't know anything about it though, I know that these old games have a lot of unfixed exploits, glitches and the like, though.

I need to know what I must do in order for my server and its clients to not fall victim to any of that, any tips?

I am running on debian 32bit, hardened kernel


Any tips on avoiding disruptions to players is nice too, I notice al ot of cstrike and czero servers d/c you randomly, or that players get stuck (I know its not always lag, because some of them beg you to kill them to be unstuck)

First at all - check the ReHLDS thing. Interesting project aimed to fix many bugs on HLDS server. For 1.6 -ReGameDlll is for you.
