Ok I run a dedicated server but whenever someone joins their ping goes sky high. It reaches like 2,000 the lowest someone ping was (other than mine) was 354 and it wont go lower than that... Someone please post what I am doing wrong or what i'm not doing it will be rewarded!

Even with a dedicated no ping should be THAT high... i run a dedicated also and my pings are never above 30 ( or people that play there) what os any high-date programs running ect... also look at the "optimizing a dedicated server thread in the steam site

maybe hes using a router... cause the last computer i had a router and no1 could join my server. and after i took it off. the server started to lag less.

Oh god...sounds like a windows 95 server.

PS: The router problem you were having was caused by the fact that you did not open your ports.

If the lag only occurs at client_connect, it must be that:

1. You have a too slow connection (upload is the limit)
2. You have your sv_maxrate too high

Solutions:

1. Get a better connection, especially the upload. Or have a webhost to upload maps to your users.
2. Set sv_maxrate to an acceptable level.
