Hey, I got my webhost and files uploaded and all that. Everything goes well, except for sometimes, some items just skip and are downloaded at the slow rate with the "black "background." For example, it will say helms_deep_ag with the url downloading, and immediately finish without a progress bar. Then it is actually downloaded at the entrance (black) screen at the slow rate. Other files download perfectly (models, sounds, sprites). Is this a glitch? Or is it normal.

Also, another issue: a map I have, cc_junglebase, doesn't seem to work when downloaded from the url downloader. I received an error when I was uploading it, that the connection timed out, but it completed. It was missing about 400KB, so when people download it, they are unable to play it and their client terminates. I tried reuploading it several times, but it still does not upload fully. Any suggestions to either of these?

first part: that has to do with Proper CaSiNg!
for instance this is what the server says: client needs to download files:

maps/Mapname.bsp
models/Model1.mdl
sprites/SpR1.spr

and on the server you have:

maps/Mapname.bsp
models/Model1.mdl
sprites/Spr1.spr

the files are different! the client thinks the sv_downloadurl doesnt have that file, so instead, it asks the server for it!!

2nd issue.. delete the file.. by the sounds of it the file is being hidden in the server still (complex thing called 'caching' that I dont want to type) so I would suggest deleting the file waiting about a day(or clearing the server cache if such a feature is available) and uploading it again.. if that doesnt work.. then just let the slow download handle it..

You answered them a bit...but for the first issue, all the casings are correct. However, I have all these ZTMP files. So for example:

scoutzknivez.bsp
scoutzknivez.bsp.ztmp

There are no casing errors, could these ztmp files be interfering?

no, in fact the ztmp files tell you which files are being downloaded from the server instead of the sv_downloadurl..

that ztmp file means the server had to prepare the file to download for a client, it doesnt interfere, it just speeds up download from the server (even though sv_downloadurl is faster) I would reccommend looking at the sv_downloadurl and make sure they are both the same...

yes, so the server file $hlds/cstrike/maps/scoutzknivez.bsp
should be the same for sv_download url.. which would go to:
http://hlds.net/cstrike/maps/scoutzknivez.bsp

make sure both blue parts are exactly the same, you SHOULD be able to copy that blue part and paste it into both your server ftp and your sv_download url and both SHOULD work, if they dont something is spelled wrong or missing

Sorry to bring this topic up again, but I've come across a relevant issue. When I try to upload some maps, such as cc_junglebase to the webhost, the map always gets to 3.1 MB and just stops completely and finishes as incomplete. So when users join and download the map, they're unable to join. Any idea why the map won't upload fully?

Maybe try using a different ftp client.
