hey guys,

I've been reading several times that people would like to use
the standard SM banning system (BaseBans plugin) but would like
to disallow permanent banning for non root-admins, so I thought
I'd just share my slightly modded version of the SM 1.2.1
basebans.sp and /basebans/ban.sp

That ONLY allows admins with Root-Access (Flag "z") to perm
ban and time ban more than a week.

All other "ban" admins can only use any ban time between 1 and 10080minutes (= 1 week)

Installation:
Just download the archive and extract it, copy the file "basebans.sp"
and the "basebans" folder into your sourcemod's "scripting" folder
while overwriting existing files, delete the "basebans.smx" from the
"compiled" folder (if already existing) and hit the compile.exe.

You'll find your freshly compiled modded "basebans.smx" within the
"compiled" folder now!

can you please post the finished product(basebans.smx). I tried to compile it but it tells me the compiler is not compatible with a 64 bit operation system. Could you tell me a way around this also?

I'm using Windows XP Pro x64 and never had a problem with
the compiler.

Anyways, which SM version do you want that for?

I am not entirely sure which version, but i am guessing the newest one since it is the one that gameservers.com automatically installs.

Here is the exact message i get when i try to compile stuff:
"The program or feature"\??\C:\Users\kage\Desktop\scripting\s pcomp.exe" cannot start or run due to incompatability with 64-bit version of Windows. Please contact the software vendor to ask if a 64-bit Windows compatible version is available."

ok i got a working basebans.smx file by copy+pasting the bans.sp file coding into the basebans.sp where it says "#include "basebans/bans.sp" and using the onlime compiler. But i would still like to have a working compiler do you know the issue with the spcomp.exe? it would be greatly appreciated if you could help me.

Are you using Vista x64, Windows 7 RC x64 or XP x64?

Did you already try it in compatibility mode?
(right-click -> Properties -> Compatibility Tab)

I could have used this a few months ago before i started using sourcebans. I'll keep it in mind if for some reason sourcebans stops working.

I'm using this, haven't had the chance to really test it - but I'm assuming it works fine. Been looking for this for a long time !
