can't hear player

Hi i have prb in my cs 1.6 { Steam } !!!
why i can't hear players speaking in microphone but they can hear me !!

all servers (steam & no-steam)

Try on steam ONLY servers. A server is non-steam if you see:

9 or more digits steam_id's in a "status"
users that don't have a steam-icon next to their name (no picture at all, so not just no defined)
users with steam_id_lan in a "status"
users with valve_id_lan in a "status"
users with "valve_X_X_XXXXXX" in a "status"

If there are no other users you can simply check if it is a steam-only server HERE.
I guess you don't hear them because they are non-steamers.

check your microphone settings and make tests in other stuff than HLDS servers like: steam, skype, teamspeak, etc.

is there also an option for 'enable voice in this game'? if that one is unchecked, all voice comm is off and they might be trolling you

sorry if I seem stupid, but I misunderstand everything when I am extremly tired

on-topic:

is it about only one game or all the GoldSrc games ? → reinstall steam without uninstalling it: steam is a portable software (dosen't need to be reinstalled when reinstalling the OS and can be moved or copied without problems).
or just about CS ? → read this topic. or: (tested before steamcmd updates) try to delete your config.cfg and start the game to generate a new default one.
