Hello there !

so iv'e been looking around lately into ways to get the most juice out of my dedi for a csgo warserver of 10 slots @ 128ticks.

for the specs of my dedi:

i7-6700
64GB DDR4 ram

2 x 250 GB SATA 6 Gb/s SSD
(Software-RAID 1)

HETZNER Datacenter

hold your tits there, i know most of the people will be saying that i am overkilling it n such, but still the wanted performance is still not there, YES i want more accuracy

things i tried so far:

- changing through linux distros debian, ubuntu, centos (imo it's all about the kernel and base tweaks)

- compiling custom kernel using latest 4.9v @ 1000Hz, preempt, deadline scheduler

- taskset the srcds_linux pid to half of the cpu cores

what i am expecting :

0.002 > var

all inputs are welcome and PLS HELP

In my opinion for a gameserver the main problem is your hoster.

Hetzner don't have a direct routing to the Telekom subnet (peering). So player with Telekom (most in germany) will have not an optimal ping though the routing.
https://wiki.hetzner.de/index.php/Do...aid_Traffic/en

And years ago I read an article and get confirmation from a hetzner employee that their subnet is not optimised for (professional) gameserver. Unfortunately, I don't find the link now.

thanks a lot for your reply, i highly suspected the connection for some reason after ive setup the kernel

i took a look over the link and my question here is would you recommend the DTAG uplink (i justify the price for my case)

Had a dedicated server rented from hetzner, about the same specs as yours. If you want a professional gameserver i really wouldnt recommend them. Our server's hardware was doing great but network was dog shit. First off I hope you're aware that hetzner nullroutes your server in case of ddos attacks, meaning your server will go offline automatically when you receive a ddos attack. Second, we had really bad packetloss with hetzner, it may not happen to everyone but if it does you're shit out of luck because the support team wont help. We tried contacting them, even sent them detailed traceroute results but according to them it was "all fine".

Edit: Apparently they introduced ddos protection 3-4 months ago which i wasnt aware about, but i would still not recommend hetzner for a professional server.

like Husker said, I would recommend to change the hoster. This Double Paid Traffic is ridiculous.

https://www.nfoservers.com/ - Didnt try it myself but heard good things about them, they provide ddos protection, their hardware is quite good and so is their support team. Their dedicated servers are premium and very pricy but if you rent a gameserver i think you will still be happy, if not, you can get a 100% refund.

https://www.ovh.co.uk/dedicated_servers/game/ - Had ovh for quite some time and I've been very happy with them. I heard of people having issues with them but i havent had any, the i7 4790k CPU gave me great performance in csgo servers because of its high clock speed (clock speed is very important since srcds is singlethreaded).

https://www.ckras.com/ - They dont offer dedicated servers but I would highly recommend renting a gameserver there, had a server with them a while back when i had a team and never been happier. I'm not sure if they have ddos protection but the server performance and network is amazing.

my problem is that i need a german server, and i don't want to buy gameservers due to cost/efficiency (IMO if they can do it, i can do it)
