For some reason, when I hook player_spawn in a plugin, when a player joins they arent shown the motd and are not allowed to join a tean, they are put into spectate. Has anybody else had these issues?

just by hooking player_spawn, no

you are hooking jointeam, or joingame. my only conclusion
