metamod.vdf prevents my server from going online

Ok so I just did a vanilla install of a DoDS server. The first thing I did was install sourcemod and metamod. After uploading the files I restarted my server. The server came online and I gave it a command to list meta version to check if it was working. Consol came up with unknown command.

So I forgot to upload the metamod.vdf file to the addons folder. So I grabbed a day of defeat source vdf, uploaded it, restarted the server and it doesn't go online. When I remove the vdf file from the server and restart it the server goes online but sourcemod and metamod won't work.

What is this problem. I have searched all over and can't find a solution.

What version of MetaMod did you install? There was a recent Valve update (6/23) that broke the then current MetaMod.

New versions of MM:S and SM were released quickly, but you will need MM:S v1.8.7 and SM 1.3.8.

I currently running the latest snapshot version which is 1.8.8-hg774 for Linux since out server is Linux based.
