My servers have been constantly hanging (hang, no response, console frozen) and some admin recently found out that it was some player who was intentionally triggering it.

We have not figured out how he did it, but it triggered every time he said he would.
Are there any known protections to attacks like this?

The console freezes when it's triggered and it shows absolutely no error and any odd messages.

What I learned is that it is a some type of script that has to do with weapon dropping.

The script kiddie said you can only do this when you have a weapon that you can drop.
Is this also what's causing it?

I'm running a Windows server and assuming the fix still works on Windows, I think it's a different problem.
