Hey all, I am getting the same thing on my Linux TF2 server. I finally decided to run the upgrade from Ubuntu 14 -> 16 since it nags me every time I ssh to the box even though I know if it's not broke, don't fix it. After the upgrade I started up the TF2 server and it installed an update, then we started getting booted with the error posted in the OP.

Before I complained to Valve too much I wanted to verify that it wasn't an issue created by the Ubuntu upgrade. Looks like it has something to do with the last TF2 update from the looks of this thread.

I also checked the server at the time of being booted and it only had around 450 edicts. I assume this means the second part of the assert failed (u.m_nNewEntity < 0) although knowing that doesn't help much.

I noticed a new update just installed so I'll give that a chance!

Yep, doesn't appear to have fixed it

I filed a bug here, for what it's worth: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Sou...es/issues/2010

Bump

Same problem on both sm-updated windows and linux servers.

Become extraodinarly annoying when it comes to test things by
reloading mod while your alone on a server.

It seems to me that clients are dropped either immediately when connecting, or if nothing much is happening on the server. Once we have 3+ clients playing and moving around constantly I don't see the drops happening.

I thought I made a second post, but apparently not.

My second thought was that TF2 is no longer reusing entity indexes and so, despite entities being destroyed, the new entity indices continues going up until one hits 2048 (i.e. MAX_EDICTS) and the server halts.

Wish the CS:GO team was as friendly and responsive as the TF2 team

Glad to see that there's a fix coming for this!

Aha. Ahaha. AHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA.

You're joking, right? Right?

Do you me to point you at TF2 bug reports from 9 years ago for issues that still haven't been fixed?
