That thread is 2 years old. Its usually stored in cfg/mapname.cfg

mapname should not have the .bsp.

Works fine for me.

maps/de_dust2.bsp
maps/cfg/de_dust.cfg

maps/cs_office.cfg
maps/cfg/cs_office.cfg

At least for the past three years without any issues on my servers.

In CS:S, it is maps/cfg/mapname.cfg.

It works fine, so it is not "out of date".

Mine runs on Linux though.

Put some random cvar into your cs_office.cfg, for example an incredibly long/short mp_roundtime that differs from your normal server.cfg, so you are able to see the difference.

Change to some random map.
- Is it now the mp_roundtime from server.cfg?

Change to cs_office.
- Is it now the mp_roundtime from maps/cfg/cs_office.cfg?

Let us know the result when you're trying the map configs with mp_roundtime or some other variable.

If you have a name-incomplete map cfg i.e - tfdb_ will SM apply the cfg to all maps that fit the string?

I have a tonne of maps that all need to unload a set of plugins that don't want to unload themselves like the others, and the only way I've found of doing so is a map cfg using sm plugins unload, as UMC also seems incapable of unloading them on command/pre-command.
