[TF2] maxplayers set to 33 for reserved slots?

Hi,

I'm running a 32 slot tf2 server and i have seen some servers that have 33 slots. How do they do this? Because i would like to have 33 slots, so that i can use the last slot as a reserved one.

I think they are using the plugin from sourceop, but i could not get that working on my linux system.

afaik this currently cannot be done in SM, so your out of luck if you want a SM plugin ;]

I would talk to Lotus Clan since they run a 33 player server. He edits the game somehow.

hmm they even have 34 slots

! If it can't be done with the sm plugin. Do they do it with the sourceop plugin? I have contacted the lotus clan, but don't not have any response yet.

I doubt they will do anything for you. In the long run it would hurt them. I dont think its any plugin. Its editing the game files themselves I believe. SourceOP could be another source for info.

I've read that it could be something to do with a sourcetv slot, but I'm not sure.

AFAIK sourcetv adds an extra slot so it does not take a player slot like it did in hl1, so that might be what you are seeing.

There are several ways of doing, and I have invested my time to find out.... why? Because its annoying to be ranked 5th behind people who are using the plugin when we dont.

There is a plugin (not sourcemod but source) that sourceop has created. This plugin once loaded allows you to set the number of max players in your command line when you run the server yourself.

This option does not work if you are being hosted by any company that does not give you direct access to the command line for the server startup, and even then youll most likely be charged or they will close your service because your getting more slots and doing something illegal (as valve calls it)

There is another way of doing through direct modification of game files. Again these are hosted by privatly ran servers, you can get a hosting service and expect to increase your player cap past what you pay for.
