Hi!

Could someone please provide advice/recommendations on the number of CPUs and amount of RAM to allocate for L4D2 dedicated servers in VirtualBox with MetaMod, SourceMod, and about a half dozen plugins and just a few custom campaigns. I can tweak as needed, but would like to have a good starting point. The host is Windows 11 Home running an AMD 7950X3D CPU with 64 GB RAM, and will have a few other VMs. The guest is Ubuntu 22.04 LTS (Multipass). I want to allocate as few resources as possible, but enough for the game servers to run without any issues. The VM will run two separate four player dedicated servers (prod and dev) with enhanced AI bots and be installed/managed with LinuxGSM.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

@little_froy I find VirtualBox7 is extremely fast. Not as fast as a type1 hypervisor, but pretty damn close. In the VirtualBox status bar (bottom right), make sure you do not have a green turtle, and do have a blue "V" (VT-x/AMD-V, Paravirtualization Interface: KVM).

Anyway, for CPU, I allocated 4/32 and it is massive overkill. I will either cut back the cores or add additional L4D2 servers. I also decided not to use Multipass and just went with a traditional Ubuntu install. LinuxGSM is awesome and made the software dependencies/installation super easy.
