Well some people time out, and as they restart steam and connect again they get banned for connection spam.
Game cs:s

Reason for this thread, to make GOD-TONY know of it, and also to see if anyone in here can remember the damn server command to kick timed out players faster.

sv_timeout Default is 65 its now changed to 10, maybe that will help. Still annoying for those who have no idea and use smac 100 %
No offence to you tony, but you know what I mean.

L 12/14/2012 - 174:07: [smac_client.smx] (ID: Unknown | IP: random numbers) was temporarily banned for connection spam.

If its 2 then why did my friend get banned ? I assume 2 is minnutes, he did not spend that long restarting the game before he reconnected. This is why I failesafe and make a thread.
The cvar wont be removed, as I know it can prevent most connection spam crash exploits.
Thats talking the server I fix.

Then its definantly need for a thread, cause this was 1 min apart.
Also I was on my way out so I missed that totaly.
He lost his wifi, then came back. And was banned for connection spam.
It was not durring a mapchange or annything simmilar, simply lost wifi came back, hit retry, then got autobanned.

well i guess, it still takes like his client is on the server untill he gets timedout, if he then tries to connect like straight after his user gets timed out, it could take it like he is connection spamming..

Dunno if that is how it works..
but i dont really see why this is a problem? just increase the cvar to something higher, or just completely disable it.

We have disabled it on our servers, and have never seen a such thing as a connection spam crash exploit.

Well I have lowerd the timeout cvar in the server that was the first thing I did, and knowing from own experience how easy it is use the exploits this module covers, I'd rather not remove it.
