Hi guys, just a question. A few days back I went to a server which changed my cl_cmdrate and cl_updaterate to 101 and rate to 25000.

I know server does that because I use to play with default settings which is 30, 20 respectively and same when I went to a Polish server that too edited my config.cfg with setinfo lang pl or something like that.

Though I removed those, but still wonder how they did it without even running AMX Mod X? Is a normal server running Metamod only modify a client's config.cfg?

The polish server was using AMXX so I can understand that Slow-hacking can does the trick but what about other one? In my console I type "meta list" and AMXX was there but was off as I didn't see anything in the server which could tell that it is on and I asked other members as well so yes it was off by all means.

Maybe the they use Amx or Adminmod.

I'm not that much idiot the "meta list" tells what the server is running and it was clearly stated it wasn't using any other than AMXX!

Metamod can be altered, so you can't trust what you saw.

I also admit that that server was running HLBooster ver. 1.70, just in case.

Anything that AMX Mod X can do, MetaMod can do better. (since AMX Mod X is limited to MetaMod capabilities)

I don't see why not. But my point is that you can change Metamod in a way that it won't show what addons it actually has running. I assume that that's the shortest route to abuse.

Download the source, tinker it a bit, compile, install.

But according to your point it should not be showing anything at all, but that one was showing all loaded plugins.

I though something has to do with server's server.cfg, listenserver.cfg, config.cfg or autoexec.cfg so client will load those settings which server wants them to load.
