But I didn't feel like trying to implement that in at the time.

The hats I completely didn't account for, but I think there's at least 2 ways to try and fix this:
Safe option - Support the Hats plugin in a similar way to LMC. I'm still new to using natives from other plugins.
Generalist option - Attach and bonemerge (EF_BONEMERGE) the player to the now-invisible climbing model to support all attached models not just from the Hats plugin.
This can bring up more bugs, though.
