Howdy, I managed to figure out the issue of why my HLDS crashed but now I have another issue I wanted to ask about. I understand with hlbooster you can set the FPS of the server. I want my server to be around 550FPS - I set up hlbooster and when i type rcon stats and repeat the command a few times the FPS jumps around from like 81 FPS to 100 FPS to 600 FPS to 880 FPS.

What cvars, command line parameters, etc do I need to set for it to be around a constant 550 FPS. Any help is greatly appreciated whether the solution suggested works or does not.

No, fps_max does not work. sys_ticrate sets the server's fps.

The server FPS still jumps around, any other suggestions? Sorry I started college so been busy.

Did you set sys_ticrate 550 in your command line? (That wasn't ever clearly said so I'm not sure if you got it out of that crazy jumble of posts.)

What system specs does the machine have? Especially the RAM, the CPU, and the operating system.

Why are you using HLBooster to set the server's fps instead of cvars? From what I've heard, HLBooster is really a huge piece of crap so it might actually be your problem.

So the server pc is an old single blade server anyway system specs

4GB of ram & 6 GB page file
Processor runs at 3.0 GHz single core.
Windows 7 Professional 64bit (may change to Ubuntu soon)

I used to have sys_ticrate 550 in the server.cfg but it didnt seem to do anything...

See set sys_ticrate 1000 in server.cfg.

And fps ups and down is normal. getting constant fps is very difficult and need to use modified kernel for os. and dont about windows. and why hosting on win 7. if windows use windows server edition.

All I had at the time was Win 7 Pro. I'll try adding that to my server.cfg but I guess all I am trying to do is get better server shot registration as some ppl complain registration is terrible sometimes. I am guessing that is the hardware thats in the machine.

If you set your maxrate and maxupdate rate higher it might help with shot registry.
