Which would absolutely kill any sort of server population if you required it. People will not download and run a third party client just to play on on a public community server, they'll just find another server.

I've seen this, but unfortunately it's just not realistic.

Dev gave up on it. Was following along and contributing with testing heavily, however it causes massive amounts of false detections in its current state, even if you run logging only (no kick/ban) it can cause disruptions in gameplay for legitimate players. Had so much potential.

Eh shit, didnt know it got abandoned. It was my only hope to replace smac...

I wish there was still anticheat around to force screenshots on players and ban by mac address or something in those terms...I know it falls in grey zone as it requires some client side files but those tools are actually awesome and make sense.

I don't believe there's any way of checking the mac address through the game (definitely not through sm).

I remember what you're talking about - punkbuster used to be super helpful and force screenshots as such. Don't believe there's a way of doing this either, without third party software installed both on the server, and the client. There are still bypasses for the screencap function in punkbuster as well.
