hi,

does someone know, if it's possible to start Team Fortress 2 (or any other source game) two times on one pc ? if yes ... how?

I would like to test my plugins with me as attacking player and me as victim player, too ...

Even if you get 2 instances of steam running (which you probably cant) then the source engine checks for other instances of the source engine and will not run if it finds one...

In other words.... get another computer, or a friend who will test for you

A bot should work fine for such tests. Er wait, nm, not TF2 bots.

TF has bots, doesn't it? I've never tried playing with them though.

They have the cvars built in ready for bots but Valve hasnt coded bots, yet. I heard they had an outside company do the bots for cs even?

You could also use a virtual machine if you are really desperate .. .. ..

Tf2 bots are dumb but can be spawned with sv_cheats on, this would be mostly pointless as the bots have to be manually controllled pretty much as there is no active AI. The only way to run 2 instances of the client versions of games on one machine would be vmware or microsofts virtual pc, both can be freely doanloaded, you would need two steam accounts also.

TF2 won't run in VMware nor Virtual PC.

Better bet would be to install Linux and use separate instances of WINE to run Steam twice, of course you'll need separate steam accounts but you would be able to run both games at the same time.
