I run all of mine in Windows mainly since its easier for me to deal with AND I have the OS on dedicated boxes which I can also run a bunch of other features thru without any issues.

from my own experience windows seemed to be better performance wise for srcds... same server moved to the exact same specs box with windows and high player count was a lot better, some maps lagged on linux with 32 players on windows it was okay, no idea if it was caused by something else though

might be worth to point out that linux is case sensitive, making it a non-noobfriendly OS.. or what ever.

Used Linux for a big game event where we had a lot of hosted servers for our competitions. Valve released a update a couple of days prior that made Linux servers lag like shit. Thanks Valve ! Forced me to use Windows.... Ouch my pride.


But use whatever you wish. I like Linux because it doesn't eat all the resources, and it's stable in the long term too.
