    Finally it's there:
    Pong for Source

While reading this thread a while ago i wanted to test, if i could get such an ASCII game working ingame. After finishing it, i never thought of releasing, but now while i'm playing against the computer (who never does any mistakes) and having so much fun with this thrilling game, i'd like to give everyone the chance to have a round.

    It features 2 public commands:
    • sm_pong - Opens a menu with options to invite another player or play against the computer
    • sm_pquit - Surrender players current Pong game

    And two ConVars:
    • sm_pong_version - ...
    • sm_pong_onlydead - Allow only dead or spectating players to play pong. (Default: 1)

Notice that ball movement speed varies somehow on different servers. If it's too slow for you, change the PONG_BALL_FRAMERATE define and recompile.

    Quote:
    Changelog:
    1.0: Initial release
1.1: Added sm_pong_onlydead convar, increased framerate by default
1.2: Added 3 seconds countdown before starting a game
1.2.1: Now uses correct utf8 chars with same width. Fixed speed increasing over time. Fixed right paddle didn't hit correctly.
    Did you see...:

Haha that's awesome. Could you give a bit more info though? Is it a GUI or what? And can it only be played on certain types of games?

recommend to use full width character
like "O" and "o" " "it takes full 1 character`s space, not like half width character that we normaly use

It would vary by the font being used for the menu which varies per game.

    Works perfectly for me.

    It's amazing.

I recommend putting the speed up by default, I will recompile it for myself.

No errors but it crashes our linux L4D2 server when the plugin is loaded (sm plugins refresh) or when we connect with it loaded. Local windows SRCDS works fine. MM1.8/SM1.4 (on both).

I'm worried on how heavy this plugin will be whene everyone is playing it?

Also, is it possible you add a cvar, so this will only be available with people that are dead?

    Updated to 1.1.
Added sm_pong_onlydead convar to only allow dead and spectating players to play pong.

I've also fastened the ball movement a bit. Still it appears to get insanely fast sometimes, so play with the PONG_BALL_FRAMERATE.

This plugin doesn't do anything heavy on plugin load or unload or on player connect. Check your other plugins for problems.

I didn't see any difference. I've tested with CS:S, which uses Verdana as menu font.
