Zombie hell in 1.6 is not fun. I made a zombie mod that was sort of like it, but a much more 1.6 bot-friendly version. It was awesome, and I immediately had a full server, but I stopped running it, because it got to repetitive (even though it was very very challenging sometimes). That sort of opened my eyes to why zombie mods like it can't work very well.

There are twp ways to make a server popular. The first way is to just open hundreds of redirects and get people that way. The second way is to make a mod that is original and has such revolutionary gameplay that people will want to come back.

That being said, it's very opinionated on what is the best mod. In my opinion, the best arcade-style mod is Gun Game, the best deathmatch is CSDM, the best zombie mod is Biohazard (code-wise, it's very good), and the best xp mod is probably one of the private ones I've made (I made them how I wanted, so of course they have everything to make it my fav ). There are still a lot more mods out there I consider my "favorites", these were just the first I could think of. I like all my mods though, even though there are many I never got around to finishing .
