I know that when I compile plugins with anything > gcc-3.4.6, there are some server operators that can't run it because their gclib isn't > 2.3.

I recently compiled gcc-4.4.1 using the "--enable-libcgxx-v3" configure switch. It works for them, but I was wondering if it was a drawback for some reason. I don't do anything but source plugins on my dev machine.

I've looked and searched for documentation on this switch, but I haven't really found anything.

You can also get new libc dependencies which is why we haven't moved off gcc-4.1 (not that there's a lot of reason to).
