    This plugin forces voice communication only to players within a certain radius of the speaker, which makes it so you cannot communicate to players accross the map; but rather within "speaking range," which is a distance defined in a cvar. If alltalk is on, players will hear players from the opposite team if within proximity, but the dead are silent to them. If alltalk is off, it's the same, except you cannot hear the other team. Likewise, the dead can only talk to other dead. Only tested in Day of Defeat:Source, but I don't see why it wouldn't work in TF2 or CSS. This is my first script, so input/feedback would be apreciated.

    Cvars
    • sm_voiceprox_version (1.0.100) — The version of the plugin.
    • sm_voiceprox (0) — 1 to enable voiceprox, 2 to disable.
    • sm_voiceprox_distance (1000) — Distance voices can "travel"
    • sm_voiceprox_interval (.2) — The time in seconds between "who's listening" updates

    Installation
    Simply place the plugin in addons/sourcemod/plugins/ and add sm_voiceprox 1 to server.cfg

    It took some fiddling around with, but it works for DoD:S

    Very interesting! I wonder... Could the speaker's voice be made to be emitted from his in-game location? This way you'd hear his speech actually emit from him, which could fade out as he got farther away.

    Maybe doed not apply here but i run alltalk and its a fan fav but i would love to see this plugin with a admin functions whr the voice cansels all sound and must be heard. many times the admin cant give warnins because they cant ge a word in and this is the closest plugin to help that.so i will try hope to see the next version if thr is one!!

    lol why would u want it on l4d the game is so loud u need to hear people clearly if they are far away from u so if it made it quiter due to radius you wouldnt hear them screamin help after being attacked by like 100horde and ur opposite ends say
