but are those other plugins using dictionary files? do you have an example?
see, i'd really like to help but i'm afraid you know much more about utf8 in hlds than me. tell us if you manage to get it running somehow.

maybe when you show me an example plugin where it works with an utf8 dictionary file i can compare it and see what it's doing better than xREDIRECT.

UTF-8 works fine but you have to make sure that the dictionary file is saved as UTF-8 without BOM.

hmm, i think i saved the file using notepad++ as normal utf8. which program is it that offers this BOM options?

and when we got that running: is the menu in cs really capable of displaying these characters? afaik it can't even display all special characters like ^ or umlauts like äöü.

Notepad++ . With this BOM, the file will not load.

It can. Though for some accents like ¨ it may appears with -.

guess i never payed attention to this option, will check that and correct the offered language files accordingly.

that will take some time, however. maybe someone else can speed that a little up by converting the file and posting it here?
i am writing this from my cell phone, sitting in a meeting. quite funny, it seems to be the only "spare time" i have left for caring about private stuff these days. guess it will take some days before i will come online from home again, being able to update any file attachments.
also a new beta is close to be released, as soon as my job ever leaves me some minutes to do the final steps... :/

You have a button below "Manage attchments" ; but I've already attached the dictionary file converted.

u've attached wrong dictionary, there are 3 types:
- default (without special characters)
- including special characters
- utf-8

u saved default in utf-8 but i needed 3rd type to work with

I've taken the 'special characters' version and converting in UTF8 without BOM. What others files you need ??! xOR was needed only the a proper dictionary file whit accents.
