Is this still needed after today's update? (i.e. would be beneficial to run this extension?)

You should not be running this if you run TF. However, if you run servers for a different game, you're totally welcome to try it (which is why I posted this).

There have been no updates to the games that the extension was made for.

OK so this is actually for all games other than TF2 that valve is not messing around with while valve continues to try to correct the issue in tf2 first and then release for other games.

Therefore one should install this on for example their cs:s servers to reduce lag? Is this correct?

Valve has this fix already in the prerelease branch (the game uses different compression now), but both clients and servers have to be running the prerelease branch to use it.

I think CS:S was synced with the engine changes sometime lat month.
