Look at your SV_Pure setting- this has stopped sounds working before and mey be affecting this. sv_pure 0 should allow the sound to work.

Also, look in the console window to see if there is an error given there- may help to narrow it down.

Thanks,

Does this or can you make it so when a player joins a server, as it downloads maps/models/sounds, it plays music?

Awesome, if you can make that happen, it would rock our socks very hard. You can do it with Mani, where you're downloading models, maps, and other stuff before you get to the MOTD. This would really help.

2 suggestions...

config file to specify different sound files...as in not always named the same file...if you change it people would have to delete the one that is already downloaded to hear the new...

an option to have the sound file used rotate...as in you have like 10 different sounds and each map rotates through a different one...

Very weird issue for me:

When my server is empty and I join, I hear the sound.

If there are players, I don't hear it, and everyone tells me they hear nothing as well. In my client side console I get a message that looks something like:

Could not find "misc/whiskeybar/whiskeybar.mp3" file probably missing from disk or repository.

This is definitely not the case though, I have triple checked that the file exists in the right spot both on the server and on my fastdownload URL... If I manually remove the file from my steamapp's directory, it will redownload it from the server, but still give the same message.

Does this have something to do with sv_pure perhaps? I'd really like to keep sv_pure 1 on, is there a work around?

This is a Team Fortress 2 server.

I think you also need to add the sound to your pure_server_whitelist.txt file.
