I have had some success messing with various CTX files to get similar results. IE right now all melee weapons on my hosts get 5-8 seconds crits on each kill and upto 30 hp health on each shot they hit an enemy. I also set the same for most base weapons and did others like slowed down people hit with needles while increasing the uber of the doctor. I can also see from the existing attributes how you could add / remove health, speed, clip sizes, damage etc.

Once I get it figured it out a bit more and really want to see if I can create a new weapon by hijacking of sorts an existing 'Level XXX' type duplicate but with a slightly diff attributes for it. After this latest update Valve also appears to have added more attributes that can then be applied to various items. Bastards even decided to rename them all making it fun for me.

Ok so I've got the files for decompiling and compiling ctx files, but I don't understand where to put them after editing them. I can't put them back into the GCF where they came from. Someone said to put it in a scripts folder but I can't find it. Can you help explain where to put the edited CTX files?

I may be wrong but I guess they go in the tf/scripts folder.... where all the other ctx files go? You probably replace the originals.

Just leave them as txt format in the tf/scripts folder, the txt files are read before the ctx files. Just remember to move/delete the text files before updating the server.

I would like to keep this thread going, maybe make some progress on adding/removing attributes since it's completely possible. voogru, does your attributes plugin require an extension?

Valve's "Super" weapons with all the attributes were removed after Robin found out that a bunch of Valve employees were basically griefing servers i have the email somewhere.. found it here you go

Quote:
Hi All.
Our original usage of these was a couple of weeks ago, and lasted a day. It was mostly around testing the item system (they contain every positive attribute in the system). After that, we converted all the "Valve" weapons to be purely cosmetic. Unfortunately, unknown to us on the dev side, some of the non-TF2-team folks at Valve didn't get the memo, and gave themselves the broken items recently.

We're removing these from everyone today, and removing the ability for folks to give these kinds of weapons to themselves in the future. Shouldn't happen again. (And if it somehow does, feel free to drop me an email at [email protected] and let me know)

Robin.
if anyone wants help with editing ctx files let me know ill help you out
