Hello!

I've been trying to get a Dota 2 Dedicated server up and running for the past couple of days. Tried various methods found online, but none of them seemed to work for me

I am able to download the necessary Dota 2 server files with SteamCMD.

But after that I can't seem to figure out how to actually launch the server.
I tried using srcds file found in this thread, but it gives me the following error:

Code:
Failed to load the launcher DLL:
The specified module could not be found.
What steps are necessary to actually launch the dota 2 server?

Would love to get any input on this.

It seems to be listed in the valve's Dedicated Servers List, though.

Under Linux Dedicated Servers, with appid 570. Maybe it's an error on their part?

That srcds.exe is from Source1. Dota 2 is on the Source2 engine now and does not use a separate executable to run the server as dedicated.

Run game/bin/win[32|64]/dota2.exe (or game/dota.sh on Linux) with the -dedicated parameter. If on Windows, you will also need to have Metamod:Source installed for it the server to not automatically exit upon map load. (I don't think there are install instructions on the wiki for MM:S on Source2, but it's very similar to using the documented "gameinfo" loading method on Source1).

Also, I don't think it will let you have players join without creating further plugins - been a while since I tested. If they try to connect manually as-is, I believe they will get a message about there not being a lobby for them, as Dota 2 defaults to exclusively using matchmaking, which isn't implemented for non-Valve servers.
