Character Map/Symbols as Admin Name

Is there a way to setup "name" admin to use symbol characters in their name? Every time I copy from character map onto the admin file, it just shows up as ????.

The reason is I'd rather not provide steamid has a method of admin since they can change their names and still use admin. This way, they must use a specific name inorder to obtain admin. Having said that, some players like to use arabic and other symbols in their name but I haven't quite figured it out.

Is this even possible?

You need to save the file as UTF-8. I'm not sure if admins_simple.ini can handle UTF-8 characters but admins.cfg definitely can.

Using steamids is the preferred method of admin authentication. Name-based auth is really only intended for LAN servers. If you would like to be able to identify admins, I suggest you use (or request an addition to) sm_who. But, that's up to you.
