Update Notifier


Hello all,

angry about the latest update that have restarted your full server and the players dont know anything?

Never again!

This plugin notifies your players about an coming server restart caused by autoupdate, so your players can update their client and can connect after the server-update again!

Requires the Steamtools extension!

You can set the text yourself that is shown to the Players when an update is released in sm_un_text (Default is: WARNING! Updates for the game has been released, server will restart for updating on mapchange!).
Enable and disable it with sm_un_enabled (def: 1).

It doesnt compile with the web-compiler, use attached .smx instead.

This plugin notifies players to update their game, i like it. Course the auto restart plugins do the same thing but this is good to warn players ahead of time.

Looking at the sources for all both plugins, this tells people a head of time an update is coming BUT doesn't shutdown the server so this is helpful if you don't use the SRCDSAdmin or Oudated Do?.

I personally wouldn't use it with SRCDSAdmin, because then players get the warning twice, witch is not really necessary. This plugin is mainly for the servers that run with the -autoupdate command option and want to warn their players if the autoupdate-mechanism restart the server after "mapchange" (on map ends...)

And it didn't restart the server, right. But I will see if I implement such a function later, controled by a cvar....

I said you shouldn't use it with SRCDSAdmin or at least that's what i tried to get at.

But you are right, its exactly the same thing that outdated do ... But i didnt find it when i was on my search for other same-working plugins .. ok, that makes this plugin not necessary and will get unapproved ... it was a try <---- FAIL

Lol, I think the plugin is useful for people who don't want to use the plugins that automatically create a file for them and just have a message pop up which will autoupdate like you said but again, i don't use that method so i have no idea if it works or not or if it's usefull.

If no players in server and map not changing, it restart server or not?
