You're saying you have tried your Steam Group URL and the 64-bit Steam ID of the group, but none of them are the ones you should use:

If this one is the group you want, you should set your steam group variable to "26665881".

However, if the second (almost identical) one here is the group you want, then you should set your steam group variable to "27836379".

I assume that the username 76561198012765823 means that the Steam ID there is yours, the above two groups are based on the two groups that this Steam ID64 is a member of.

yes one of those groups is what i want but for security reasons ive had other people attempt to put my steam group id in their server cfg and i get a bunch of randoms joining my group from other countrys. ive done that what you said using the 2666 numbers etc but when ingame and press H to bring up the motd (motd shows when you join) and you click join this steam group server it still provides me with the steam group i mentioned earlier (link) and its really starting to tick me off at this point i know its a server side or steam error, since others (my friends) get the random steam group also.

ok so i once again verified my game cache and server files i even fully 100% deleted every server file i have for l4d2 on my cloud pc and re downloaded the game server.
started everything up with proper server.cfg 100% vanilla and was presented with this steam group when clicking "join this steam group"

Remove the comments before "sv_steamgroup_exclusive 1".

You can also set sv_allow_lobby_connect_only to 1, which prevents anyone from joining your server except via a lobby.

Those are the only options you have without any custom plugins.

Using a stock server and sv_steamgroup 26665881 , I had same results as you. (http://steamcommunity.com/gid/103582791456187288 opens up)

Looks like sv_steamgroup isn't being properly handled by the engine or value is incorrect.

yes this is what i figured but how are there servers already up with correct groups and working html motd?

like the most recent lewd4dead servers i know very recently a few extra servers have been up and running with working motd and proper groups on the server.

this is going to make me cry i guess there is nothing that can be done other then complain to valve?

EDIT: (@ .:{EK}:. SQUALL ) please dont use my groups for your l4d2 servers, i dont like when people host servers on my groups its not right.
