Sup People,
I bought A new server yesterday, and I need to format the hard drive, it has poor partition on each drive. This is the type of hard drive(s) in it http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822116002, and I was curious if anyone knows the best way on formating and reinstalling the OS on them... I was trying it yesterday late in the evening and it said I had to power down the hard drives to begin the format. I have this server http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...=Google+Search.

If it is a RAID setup, delete the container or VD. To do this, you have to be able to watch the server startup. It will display something like "PowerEdge Extendable RAID Controller", or something like that. The buttons that you will have to press will either be Ctrl+R, Ctrl+M, Ctrl+D, or something like that, you shouldn't have a problem finding it if it does have a RAID controller.

If it is not RAID format, then you should be able to just reinstall the OS and it should ask you how you want the drives partitioned

Yea, I haven't touched RAID in a while, but Dell was very helpful in getting this done, so I will be fine. But thanks Yami.

What type of server is it, like what category? I am having a hard time finding it on the Dell site. I am curious as to what it looks like. I know that it is 7U high, but I can't find it. Yeah, but I touched RAID last week, lol. I am interning (not as much now) at a datacenter, so I get to see loads of servers. But, I haven't seen a PE 4400 yet, that is why I am a little curious as to what type it is. I find RAM for it, but no pics of the actually machine...
