My own hosted game worked fine until sacrifice or whatever DL happened the other night.
Will test install mods 1 by 1.
I just need to get past the cinematics.
Both L4D1 and L4D2 crashed in old cfg.

They disabled client-side plugins for most source games (most likely L4D is included in this) and a listen server is both a client and a server, therefore you cannot load the client side plugins (e.g. sourcemod and metamod) with a listen server.

Actually they did this to prevent an amazingly large amount of horrific exploits, most of the "hackers" around were using lua scripts and the like, or having eventscripts and I suppose, sourcemod enabled on their client, something which can allow them to exploit and increase their speed, or accuracy or a number of other things.

I ran coop only and the plugins
negated any need for exploiting.

Unless I find a 2$ hub and a 150$ fast enough PC then muddle on through

So I may try running the dedicated on my OWN MACHINE (did it on zombie master) and playing at the same time.
All I can figure out is it must be a different directory to run
SCRDS otherwise would crash just like my listen server
since these new RETARTED updates.

SourceMod, SourceMM, and this forum is a product of a collaboration. That being said, your attitude has alot to do with the quality of response you are likely to receive.

Since Valve didn't prepare in advance for the issue of exploiting the client-side plugin loader, there was alot of room for writing client side scripts. For example, if you can load SourceMod on the client you are able to use sm_cvar (or abuse it really). There was also a plugin (IIRC) that specifically was around to create client side exploits.

Let me give you a news flash by the way: People probably hated playing on your server. It is very unlikely that you were able to operate a server better than a dedicated machine. Remember, even XBOX live relies on a RANDOM host, meaning the one with the really good internet connection usually gets victimized into being the host, but with XBOX a client side exploit would be much harder to load considering the console aspect.

If you really enjoy running a game server, dedicate a machine or rent a server. People don't do it because they are stupid, they do it because they know it is the best experience for the community.

I've been coming here 2 years I think I know what this place is.
I have also helped troubleshoot a few L4D and L4D2 mod bugs and offered suggestions and EVEN provided a solution or two(so I don't have donor status woo woo).

You cannot conceive to know my 100 or so players or evaluate their in game experience.
I never said it played better.
Some have good enough response & we played very frequently over a LONG period of time.
Ones who couldn't achieve such a experience left on their own
accord.Who would play on a server where you are constantly warping and missing shots or waking up dead?

EXCEPT when valve comes here and converts OUR BELOVED MODS into mutations for the controller sect of players in the process breaking everything that has been done by this community. Requiring further complete rebuilds and re-installs of all that has already been accomplished by our beloved modders and residents.

and now it's gone.Seeking other host based solutions.

valve and steam ALREADY HAS MY $100,...
+ hours of re-installs and configging since the last 3 or so major update have broken source and meta in both games.
$50 an hour would be sweet to be able to charge them back for every broken thing their NEW AND IMPROVED DLC caused.

This is an impossibility.
