Think we could get the default search on the forums to work slightly better? The best match that it does never seems to give good results. I could type in "tf2attributes", or "melee mode", and i'll probably get 3-4 pages of hits before the actual plugin that I'm looking for. Sometimes searching just titles will fix this, but then I have to check advanced for every search. Would it be possible to have a combined search that would order titles first, and then full text (or a profile option to set the default to titles/body/both), rather than having to do multiple advanced searches?

Try search via Google:

Not really ideal, as google can't index everything, and the forums could do a better job. Sort options are there kind of... Yet default is date not relevance

It helps if you narrow your search to one or two specific sections of the forum. If you are looking for a plugin, search only in the plugins subsection.

Relevance is subjective which is, therefore, harder to program into a search engine than date.

I made a tutorial about the VBulletin search engine (should be partially compatible with other softwares, I don't know). you can find it in my signature.

it's a bit complicated, but deals with some unfamiliar ways to find almost everything (here or in Google).

This is why we have a separate plugin search.
