Does anybody how Copyright really works?

For example: The Name Yahoo! is a trademark right? (I am not sure)

But say it is.
Now say I have CS 1.6 Servers and I want to name my Clan Yahoo!
All my servers have Yahoo! at the beginning of the Server name as well.

And in my Site I have like Welcome to the Yahoo! Clan.
And the Clan Tag is also Yahoo!

Would this be violating the Copyright of Yahoo! ???

I am asking this because I just saw some post in one of my OLD CLANS that are now dead.
Some guys wanted to bring back the clan but the old owner of the Clan told them that they couldn't use the same name because he had Copyright to it.
So how does this work is what I really want to know.
Is it really illegal to for someone to name there clan the same as an old one that is now dead?
And if you do name it the same is that Copyright or what?

not everything is copyrighted, and they need to pay for it to be restricted, otherwise adios amor mio.

Also the Old Owner said he had the Name Copyright so I'm assuming that he is saying that he paid. But can you really restrict an Old Clan name from being used again?

I remember a french politic party that has lost it's name just because they forgot to pay in the right time, and another organization catched it .

you need to check if it's copyrighted or not !
