1. Nobody should ever be using AMX Mod X v1.8.3 (it is a very old unstable developer version). You should be using either 1.9 or 1.10.
2. You can set models using plugins like Player Models.

While you're somewhat correct (1.8.3 doesn't necessarily contain all the functions in 1.9.0), it can be very confusing for people who are just working with plugins and playing the game and not software savvy developers. Especially in this thread which is not for people writing code.
