The ratio of requests that come in, compared to how many active coders we have is mind blowing. There are a fair amount of members that understand the language well enough to complete the plugins requested, but we generally see somewhere in the ballpark of five to ten new requests daily, if not more.
Before posting your request, there are a few things that will greatly help you and a potential coder understand each other much better. A large majority of requests are quickly opened and closed, simply because as we browse through, we see that the requests are so vague, we cannot tell what the person wants.
Before You Submit Your Requests:
- Have you made clear what game or mod you are requesting this plugin for?
- Prefixing your thread with [REQ] and the abbreviation of the game name its for, TF2 for example, will also help. In one line, you are narrowing down your potential readers to those that do requested plugins for the game Team Fortress 2.
- Have you listed the specifics of exactly what you want done? Make sure to list these clearly to prevent wasting a potential coders time.
- If you are looking to hire one of the coders for a project, make note of this in the thread title, as it draws more attention.
- Have you already searched the Plugin database for keywords related to the plugin your requesting to see if it has already been made? The plugin database is available here http://www.sourcemod.com/plugins.php
Following these steps will guarantee you a much better chance at successfully having your plugin made. Countless times, as stated before, threads are opened and closed quickly because their is little to no information as to what the person is asking for.
If you fall into this category, chances are you will not see your plugin made for a long time if at all!
