Does anyone know how to get the x and y axis for a regular source game?
Or are we supposed to guess?

This, basically.

HUD text isn't center-aligned (unless you use -1.0) so you need to use trial and error. Also, keep in mind that lots of players have different custom HUDs; though when in doubt, I just compare against the default HUD.

It really isnt needed though. Just setup an example of what your going to print then change the values. They are only between 0.0 and 1.0 including -1.0...
Depending on how much text is displayed can also change the positions since there was some issue where the game would ignore certain values etc.
It takes more time to understand a chart than to have a few trial runs to figure out what position you want. Even then you would still need to have trial runs to make sure it's where you want it..
