Um... it doesn't... It IS a bad thing if you financially rely on them when you're past the age of 24. But also, teenagers have to live with their parents BY LAW... until they're 17 or 18.

Those who sought to move out early (I've lived on my own since I was 16) will in most cases have had difficulties getting on with their parents. If you're close and they let you have your own freedom, there's no problem - but I refuse to believe that's more common than not.

Well yeah it is a bad thing if you rely on them financially to back you up. But ask around in most HS halls and most of them think that being dropped off by mom or dad is an embarrassing thing, being checked by mom or dad via cellphone is annoying et. al. I regret every single moment that I despised my mom or dad for just trying to be a good parent. And I'd trade an arm and leg to bring them back.
